WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla's past has a bright new future.

Fort Walla Walla Museum is preparing to debut its entrance building and exhibit hall, a $2.7 million project that will be the cornerstone for other improvements still to come.

The grand opening is planned for just over a week from today and museum staff and volunteers are working hard to get everything ready, said communications director Paul Franzmann.

"We'll be as polished as possible by April 1," he said Tuesday during a media tour of the new building.
