RICHLAND -- A Gathering for Freedom and Respect for All Religions will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
The event, organized by World Citizens for Peace and the Tri-Cities Islamic Center, will take place at the John Dam Plaza in Richland.
The gathering is a response to the planned burning of Qurans by a church in Gainseville, Fla., and other anti-Muslim events.
The Richland gathering will include prayers by representatives of different faith traditions; songs and poetry or other readings that speak to the theme of the occasion.
For more information or for rides to the event, e-mail Pat Henry at henrypg@whitman.edu.
