MILTON-FREEWATER -- Parents in the Milton-Freewater School District will soon receive school notifications through automated phone calls as part of a new communications system.
The district has announced it will be using the SchoolMessenger system to send information to parents and guardians on student attendance, for emergency broadcasts, and for other district communications needs.
Families may also receive reminded messages related to field trips, assemblies, or other activities.
The system was secured with grant money meant specifically for parent communication, according to a news release.
The automated system will be used in addition to other lines of communication within the district, and building principals will continue to be accessible for visits from parents and guardians.
