Trial set in hit-and-run with pedestrian

WALLA WALLA — A pickup driver who allegedly left the scene after the vehicle struck a woman pedestrian at Fifth Avenue and Alder Street in October is scheduled to stand trial April 20 in Walla Walla County Superior Court. The trial date for Aminda Paez-Diaz, 23, who now lives in Spokane, was set Monday. She previously pleaded innocent to the felony charge of hit-and-run — injury accident. Police said Paez-Diaz was heading south on Fifth and turning east onto Alder about 8 a.m. Oct. 6 when the vehicle struck Hazel Olson.
