WALLA WALLA - Texas cowboys scooped up most of the tie-down roping money during the first go-around of the Frontier Days Rodeo during a gray Tuesday morning at the Walla Walla Fairgrounds.

But one of the boys from the Lone Star State had to share the event's top prize as Matt Shiozawa of Chubbuck, Idaho, won a share of the round.

Shiozawa, who entered the week as the 21st-ranked calf roper in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association standings with earnings of $50,936, added to his bank account by roping and tying his calf in 8.1 seconds. His share of first-place money amounted to $1,481.12.
