Even with sunny warm temperatures melting masses of snow and ice away Monday, it was a traction devices advised morning for Whitman College Book Arts Professor Mare Blocker as she negotiated the piles of plowed snow along streets during her 1 mile trek to work. Blocker commented that students occassionally kid her about her dual hiking pole assistants but with winter weather being as slippery as it has in recent days, every extra bit of traction certainly helps. January 23, 2012
