Warrior men clinch tourney with victory over No. 1 Spokane

Mac Stannard’s late 3-pointer lifts WWCC past first-place Spokane, 80-77, and into the NWAACC Championship Tournament.

WALLA WALLA — Mac Stannard drained a 3-point field goal try with 19.1 seconds left in the second half to give Walla Walla Community College the lead for keeps Wednesday night in an 80-77 NWAACC Eastern Region men’s basketball victory over first-place Spokane in the Dietrich Dome. Stannard’s trey was part of a game-ending, 9-2 run that earned the Warriors a spot in next month’s NWAACC Championship Tournament in Kennewick. WWCC is now 8-3 in league and 17-7 overall.
