I'm appalled by the use of chip seal on city streets. It's bad enough on the country roads, but is downright painful in town. I suppose the high-friction surface will allow for reduced winter maintenance. Oh, wait a minute... They already don't do anything in the winter, so I guess that's not the reason. At the very least they could clean up the loose gravel that's all over the sidewalks and still getting tossed around by passing vehicles.
It's such a shame that all those millions of dollars get flushed away buying advertising when they could be used to do something real, productive and helpful.
You know, this is funny because the UB actually ran that propaganda the other day disguised as a news article. I'm very surprised to find this more rational article here today.
I just noticed that the other article is still featured on the front page! http://union-bulletin.com/news/2012/o...
Very interesting! We had similar wildlife migrations in downtown San Diego, but the canyons there are deep, rugged and well connected, which is also too convenient for other forms of traffic!
When I read of these sightings I always wonder how the animal could have gotten there. If true, he must have come from the south or east, but would still have to navigate a few neighborhoods and cross a highway. What might have drawn the animal to this particular location especially given all of the open country and farm land in the vicinity? Definitely a mystery to me! I hope to hear about further investigations.
I'm not too sure what this comment box is supposed to be connected to, since it appears as soon as I log in, but I'll go ahead and comment anyway. My first impression of the new website is decidedly positive. It's a much less cluttered layout and easier to navigate. I haven't tried the tablet and mobile versions yet, and will be very interested to see how they look.
On another note, when attempting to read articles on this last login, I was asked to subscribe, despite already having a subscription. I logged out and back in (which is how I got to this comment box), so perhaps I can now read articles. I'll go now and see if that's the case (or not).
It's great to see some progress being made on the website! Keep it up!
