I voted no.. To expensive.. too many wants. Income taxes raised, can't afford another $200-$300 + for a fancy shiny school. They need to look at the basics, A/C, Windows some paint & flooring the furniture and equipment and computers can be paid for by applying for grants. Good Start...
The track - take teh $$ your spending at Borleske and apply it to a new track, 20K per year thats a good chunk of $$ the track will be paid in full in a few years then use that 20K thats allocated for other capitol improvements.
We aren't sending our troops into battle prepared. Have you read the cuts being made to defense? Sacrificng life for freedom far exceeds a fancy shiny school full of "wants". Address the needs.
You say the school pays $20,000.00 to rent Borleske. How about applying for a loan and using that $20,000.00 per year to pay it off, that money is already allocated. Then when the track is PIF ( a couple years) . Use the $20,000.00 for capitol improvements each year. This bond is outrageous. Telling kids its ok to spend $ cause the credit card has low rates is irresponsible and asking "property owners" to be the credit card is one sided.
Wa-Hi looses 500+ students within the next two years, overcrowding isn't an issue. College Place, WWCC Skills Center, WWCC Running Start, WWCC AEP, those funneled to Lincoln because they don't fit the staus quo at Wa-Hi and finally the online highschool bill that allows student to get a diploma from home. Kids can learn when taught, the building doesn't make them smarter, dedicated instructors do. Furniture, Equipment etc.. all items that can be applied for in grants. Time for someone to sharpen a pencil and start applying for grants.
Send your kids to college they don't have lockers they too use book bags, & backpacks.
I wanted to be in the band as a kid, my parents couldn't afford an insturment.. I survived..my parents didn't go ask the neighbors next door to sacrifice thier life style to buy me an insturment.
The bond is outrageous and needs to be reduced by about 40 million
I agree with Mr. Howard. many state and county employees have been on manditory pay cuts the last 1-2 years while those surviving on SS are barely making ends meet. Jobs are few and far between in WW. The US Govt. just increased income tax! For persons employed FT, thats an average $700.00 per year gone... and now a school bond for an outrageous amount for more wants than needs. The bond needs to be realistic to get my aprooval, right now its outrageous. The quote of $125.00 yr increse is understated thats very meger compared to WW housing values, peopel are looking at $200 -$500 its not just houses its "property" Business, Commercial, Land... etc..
With all due respect. Mr. VanAusdle & Mr. Peterson did not take a pay cut like all the classified staff did at WWCC as well as all the other state and county employees on pay cuts the last 1-2 years living in this city/county struggling to make ends meet.
