DeadDawg 2 years ago on County's open budget process good for public

The County does an excellent job of remaining upfront about the decisions they make and why they make these financial decisions. The department heads need to be held accountable by the community because there are some serious problems related to a few department managers' inability to budget wisely.

DeadDawg 2 years ago on High court must set limits on use of drug-sniffing dogs

Walla Walla Police currently use Rev to sniff for contraband in backpacks, cars, homes, etc. without a warrant (while the suspect is 'detained' and under police control). Then a warrant is requested if there is 'a hit'. I have wondered if that is legal, especially, after the appalling 'gun' incident out on Wallula Road. I will be interested in what the courts finally decide. As for comparing drug/explosive dogs with SAR dogs: the comment by the quoted U.S. Justice attorney is ridiculous.

DeadDawg 2 years ago on Washington needs to beef up its requirement for identification

I am a citizen NOT a number. SS numbers are not tattooed on anyone's left arm YET and they were never intended to ID citizens. Driver's licenses tend to be the ID of choice in the United States when you go to the store or are pulled over by the police!

In 1965 the Immigration and Nationality Act gave blanket amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants. The 1928, (1965), 1994, 1986, 1997, 1989, 2000, provided millions of illegal immigrants rolling and blanket amnesty. These programs did not work. Bush tried another amnesty and his 2007 act was defeated. That 14th amendment is a challenge that needs to be challenged.

The annual million of LEGAL immigrants deserve a licence to drive LEGALLY in Washington State. “Attrition through enforcement” works but people don't want to hurt feelings or be called "racist". My feelings are hurt by illegal immigrant's children receiving social security, my feelings are hurt because I don't get the same courtesy in china or mexico and my feelings are hurt because I can't even buy ocean front property in Mexico because I am 'foreign' (really ticks me off). The 1950's program worked with few enforcement agents. But I will welcome the "Utah plan" because there is no other recourse. Legal status should be required in order to have a licence to drive.

Earleene , Will those curve balls include a solid understanding of fiscal responsibility and a clear understanding of the job that the BOCC is mandated to do?

DeadDawg 2 years ago on Concerns over Walla Walla Farmers' Market need to be resolved

UB writes:"But Walla Walla Sweet Onion vendor and market board member Bud Locati said Saturday searching for a new operator could do more harm than good. If the current market operators were not granted the contract, he said he would not be likely to remain under other management. He believes other growers may share his perspective." I read: johnny was poutin' and threatened to take his pals with him off the play ground...booo hoo dude. I read in an earlier article: little johnny authorized a tow of a vehicle when cops REGULARLY run plates and contact owners to move the vehicles before the market opens. Usually the 'bad' cars are corvettes, a few Jags, or Maseratis, but all are from outside the area and under the cover of the park canopy. Wowsie, the cops can find a cell number and contact the out of town owner to move the vehicle but cannot contact a vendor? Bullpucky on the boards false promises, and I am Skippin' with joy to think that the City has finally got a brain. The current contract should not be extended more than a yr. Actions are valued more than words by honest people.

DeadDawg 2 years ago on No easy answers seen for $1.9 million county budget gap

The best way to see exactly what the commissioners job definition is to attend/listen to several meetings. The commissioners are now faced with developing a plan to babysit the elected officials that voters entrusted to manage the budgets of the job they signed on for. We ignore the commissioners, then criticize them for refusing to participate in the fiscal crisis our county is facing. The sad part is that the general public doesn't know squat about the budget issues because most ignore the reality of ZERO balance. Would you design your home budget in that manner? Example: You earn 50 grand a yr. You spend 58 grand and then your central heat fails. Do you expect someone else to pay for that 8 grand overrun in addition to unexpected expense of the new heating unit? The Coroner and Sheriff are asking US to do this and we elected them both into office with NO follow up questions asked. Shame on us...

DeadDawg 2 years ago on Dozier thoughtful in his decision making

To the anonymous person who attends every BOCC meeting and signs onto the UB as "ImJustSayin", I stated: "After attending or listening to". Hey Dorothy/Andy nice to know you are ImJustSayin! Snipe at someone else between meetings. ImJustSayin...

DeadDawg 2 years ago on Dozier thoughtful in his decision making

After attending or listening to EVERY stinkin' BOCC commissioner 'meeting' for a few years now, I agree with Mr. Loney. All the current and former commissioners worked hard to be honest AND fair. Being eager just doesn't work for a person hired to budget that 70 million we entrust our BOCC with.... INTEGRITY counts.
