The county library has been paying the city library hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, to support a "seamless" integration of our libraries.
Every year, the Walla Walla Public Library has wanted more money, but wants to provide fewer services to the county residents.
I say the rural libraries invest the $245,000 our our tax dollars a year they gave to Walla Walla's library to bettering the rural library district.
$245,000 would go a long way towards retrofitting an existing building into a fantastic library for non-annexed people in the Walla Walla area. I don't feel good about MY tax dollars going to fund a library (WWPL) that then wants to turn around & charge me again for a library card.
At least the COUNTY libraries are living up to their mission statements.
