@ campbell: Belligerent much? A quality shared by Turner supporters. Just so the UB knows ... Their OVER EXPOSURE of the sheriff is hurting his chances at re-election, not helping it. Many people feel the same way I do.
The take-away: Be considerate and obey traffic laws; they were created for public safety. Parents need to teach their children the difference between right and wrong and apparently this dad failed.
I agree with Chas in that a sheriff or any law enforcement officer needs to enforce the laws on the books even if you do not agree with them. Many law enforcement professionals feel like they can cherry pick the laws they want to enforce and that's illegal. Law enforcement professionals need to set a better example and obey all laws and protect the rights of all taxpayers.
If the UB leans any more to the right it will fall over.
Goats over herbicides whenever possible!!! I wish goats could be trained to do selective weeding, but they can't. They are a great tool for preventing wild fires as they eat a lot flammable dry grass. Goat cheese and yogurt are awesome too! Celebrating the goat!
Was the driver really not cited? Unbelievable! Everyone becomes a pedestrian when they get out of their vehicle or off their bike. Question: Can a German tourist, someone from the man's immediate family, sue the driver in a civil court case in the U.S.? Let's hope someone advises the family that this is an option for them.
Walla Walla is not a pedestrian friendly town at all!!! The crosswalks on Main Street and downtown are too small for the size of the intersections. The cross walks should be larger and boldly painted yellow. Most of the cross walks are white and have faded so badly that it creates an unsafe environment for pedestrian and driver. Walla Walla can't maintain its roads or its cross walks.
At the west end of east Isaacs there should be barriers to separate the sidewalk from the street. That stretch is very dangerous for pedestrians.
At least paint some lines on the streets so you know what lane you're driving in and where the pedestrian crossings are.
The articles and the comments about Sheriff Turner seem scripted. Additionally, the frequency in which these articles run, every few days, doesn't seem organic, but more like a campaign by the sheriff's friends. I would probably do it too, but it's coming across as entirely phony. Hopefully after 4 years of service he's more qualified to do his job although a class in budgeting would not hurt the 2 million dollar man. I don't feel like Mr. Turner represents everyone equally, so if he is re-elected I would like to see more of an effort to be inclusive. I still may support him, but I do have concerns about Turner.
