I would hope that the flower shop sues the State of Washington for infringement of Constitutional protected religious rights.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This is a guarantee that the government shall not limit religion. In this case religion is being specifically being discriminated, homosexual rights (special rights) are not explicitly spelled out in the Constitution! Not yet at least.

The flower shop was expressing a religious belief (legal right). They have the right to refuse service to people if they so choose. Comparing this right to blacks (racism) is like comparing apples to Mars. One is skin color one is a "chosen" lifestyle.

Why is it that homosexuals (gays) scream bias and phobias, yet they are themselves more bias than most. I don't care to know anyone's private life and if I the individuals don't scream their private life, no one knows.

I know some gay couples that don't make it an issue and I have no issue with them. Love the sinners (we are all sinners) hate the sins!

Gay marriage is a farce but the people voted it in, but that does not preclude religious rights in any way.

If you really want to scare the NRA it's quite simple. Promise to uphold the Second Amendment and not take guns away from legal owners. But you'd also need to promise no gun registration which ALWAYS leads to confiscation! History doesn't lie only Liberals are good at that issue.

Homosexual (gay) marriage is not possible. They may call it marriage but it isn't marriage! Also the law passed without a vote, and the vote was worded specifically to mislead the voters. It should have been a simple question do you support homosexual marriage, Yes or NO.

I bet it would have failed had it been worded correctly.

Not to mention the law was passed before it was voted on, and when put on the ballot it was confusing. The flood gates are open, this special interest group now has gained extra privilege. Since when did respectfully refusing service become a discrimination case? This is insane. I think I should sue the state to be able to have three wives now and the State should pay for their support.

The will of a few over populated counties in the West have completely taken over this state. What ever happened to our Republic where the will of the people are truly respected we were not intended to complete democratic democracy! With a pure democracy a majority wins, that was not the intent of the Constitution.

Sheriff Turner and Under-sheriff Freyer have cleaned up the department. I personally would trust my life to both of them in a second.

If more of you would support him and quit whining about personal issues like his grooming habits... it might look different.

Case in point, Sgt. Cooper who has been on extended light duty, with an election about a year away, brags about defeating Turner in the upcoming election. That officer isn't a asset for the department, he is a liability that should be fired. This shows complete disrespect for the office of the sheriff by a sworn officer.

The Sheriff is an elected official and deserves our respect. If you have legitimate gripe then express them with dignity and respect. These personal slanders make me ill. State the facts, express your opinion and show some respect!

We can have abortion on demand, yet a few people are demanding gun control? Talk about ignorance and bias. Millions of babies are slaughtered yearly by abortion and that's ok but when a lunatic kills a few with a gun we scream that something must be done to save the children. I don't get it.

I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope she listened to the will of the people. We already have gun control that isn't being enforced so we don’t need more. Not to mention criminals can make weapons from scratch. Hammers, cars and knives kill way more than guns every year, when are they going to outlawed? We will NEVER eliminate weapons from criminals. People in this state (and others) seem to forget that other people live outside the major cities. Seattle does NOT speak for all of Washington!

Your impression is that the election was fair and the Democrats are more honest is laughable. The last election was the most disgusting election ever. Democrats voting multiple times, their excuse? Judges refusing recounts... And democratic voters deciding that Obama deserves to win and any cost (even fraud and intimidation).

Also I love the mention of "Anything to make Obama look bad". Sorry, we don't need to do anything there. This president has spit on the Constitution, lied more than anyone in history and will do anything to achieve his agenda. He has spend millions of dollar hiding his past, the truth will come out! I'm not a republican, but I'm sure as heck no longer a democrat.

Romney wasn't a saint but Obama is out to destroy America.

Okay, this topic gets keep going so I have another proposal. If we institute a gun ban on types of weapons and ammo, then there are NO exemptions. If an honest citizen can't have them then no on else can either. The only exception would be our military overseas. No security details, Homeland Security, FBI, no police, no congressional exceptions. Our current lawmakers are far too often exempt from the laws they make, no more.

Is anyone willing to attempt to pass that law?

campbell_rd 1 year, 1 month ago on Parents need to stand up to NRA

The issue cannot be resolved with more laws to restrict law abiding citizens. Sandy Hook was caused by a deranged lunatic, he would have killed no matter what laws are in place. We have very strict laws currently, unfortunately several key individuals (especially Eric Holder) fail to uphold those laws. The NRA is trying to protect the 2nd amendment to the Constitution.

I have daughters and I trained them to defend themselves. We all hope to never have to defend our homes, our children or our communities from madmen/madwomen but it happens, which is why our fore fathers were so smart to make the Constitution.

If you truly are concerned (which I'm sure you are and should be) then demand that current laws be upheld and prosecute those who break them. For example demand that Eric Holder be removed from office for incompetence. Thousands of people fail background checks, yet very few are ever prosecuted. Where is outcry, where is the demands for justice there? Look at history, the cities with the strictest gun laws have the HIGHEST crime. Restricting guns actually make it less safe for children and law abiding citizens.
