Well stated and truthful!
If criminals ignore registration, which they will. Then what does registration gain other than penalizing (taxing) legal citizens? I should be allowed to transfer a gun owned by myslef to a child without Uncle Sam putting their "stamp" on the transfer. Goverment needs to be smaller and less intrusive, not bigger!
Many countries have started the process by registering all guns, then they remove them. It's history, it's accurate, it's fact.
I heard the best analogy yet on the gun legislation issue. Outlawing guns because we have Police is like outlawing fire extinguishers because we have Fireman.
We already have laws to keep legal citizens honest. What sense is there in making new (knee jerk) laws when the criminals will break the laws no matter what new law is enacted. New laws only hurt honest citizens in this case. If we keep outlawing guns like England and many other countries, the crime will go up. History proves this fact over and over again!
Gun control is really working elsewhere, why not here? Just look at Chicago, Detroit, Washington, D.C., England... The strictness of the gun law equates directly to higher crime rates! The truth is gun laws encourage lawlessness.
So let's pass more gun laws, ignoring the current ones because we need more Government.
The simple truth is the Democrats had the power to do this years ago when they controlled the House, the Senate and the Presidency. They didn't do when they had the chance and the only reason they want it now is more votes! I have one simple question, who is going to pay for the new citizens that have been breaking our laws for years? Our country is on the verge of bankruptcy and this is not the time to be playing politics only to get more votes.
This is an insult to the millions of our current and past citizens that have went through the often painful process of legal citizenship and paid for it dearly.
We need to start demanding accountability, not blame from the Senate and especially Obama.
Exactly, some of the best schools keep the building designs simple to concentrate on learning. A lot of the schools today look more like commercial buildings with fancy designs. Do our children learn better with grand architecture and manicured landscaping? NO, they don’t! They learn better when they have four plain walls with a window or two. We need to concentrate on learning and teaching our children. Not concentrating on huge, complex buildings that are aesthetically pretty, especially with the budget issues facing America these days. My budget has been trimmed considerably these days, should education (building) expenses be any different?
Here are a few famous quotes lest we get complacent:
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"
-- Thomas Jefferson, 1 Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
Men trained in arms from their infancy, and animated
by the love of liberty, will afford neither a cheap or easy conquest.
-- From the Declaration of the Continental Congress, July 1
"Taking my gun away because I might shoot someone is like cutting my tongue out because I might yell `Fire!' in a crowded theater."
-- Peter Venetoklis
False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.
-- Cesare Beccaria, as quoted by Thomas Jefferson's Commonplace book
How nice, instead we all received a nice income tax increase (of more than $600.00 yearly). Of course that only impacts the working few. Not trying to criticize those who can't find work, but how many are not even trying. At least the sales tax was equal. Something the Democrats like to preach but not practice, equality (yea right).
Excuse me - your statement "How long have we known about the fiscal cliff? Yet, the House of Representatives (and our beloved McMorris Rodgers) couldn't agree on anything until Jan. 1." is a BLATANTLY false statement. The House of Representative sent several bills to the Senate and good old Harry Reid and his Democrat buddies failed to vote on any of them. Then when the Senate did finally act they stuffed tons of special interest perks in for their buddies.
We need a simple rule, no exceptions to bills introduced, especially for members of the Congress and top executives. For example they Democrats jammed through the Obama Care bill, yet it doesn't impact them at all. Also there is a recent study showing that family of Congress don't have to pay back student loans. How insane!
Look at the weird laws we passed here in Washington this year... Sad state of affairs.
