But now the question should be, since Sharon Helman was the Director at the time, did she or others manipulate the numbers to make it look like there was under utilization? Also, how can it be that the money saved went toward the new clinic? It is more likely that the money was then used to pay outside sources for services that the VA could no longer provide.
Very good response paco! I don't believe Secretary Shinseki should be removed from his position, but I do hope he does "clean house" and get some fresh eyes in the system to get things moving along. There are far too many career bureaucrats firmly entrenched in the system with no real accountability. And while he is at it, do away with the performance bonuses for anyone in management. They don't do any of the work that gets them those bonuses, it's the worker bees below them that do it all. Just like Sharon Helman and her $9,000 bonus last year. She was a fraud when she was in Walla Walla, and it followed her all the way to Phoenix, AZ.
Millie, the article written by Sheila Hagar was not well researched and should not have placed so much emphasis on what AFGE had to say. The union officials either lied or flat out gave false information to the reporter. The employees chosen for this "assessment" were not preselected, they were chosen by the assessment team from a list of those employees who had scheduling priveleges. There may have been 2 disgruntled employees, I don't know, but if they gave misleading information and it can be proved that they did so, then that information should not be counted as part of the total assessment. Nobody was afraid of retaliation that I am aware of. The AFGE person also said that they represent about 50 union employees, which is not true. After their shenanigans lately, they are down below 40 dues paying employees and will be losing many more in the coming year.
I know you are not happy with the VA Millie, and I know that your friend is really unhappy with the VA, but "piling on" is not necessary at this point. I'll be the first one to agree that the VA system is far from perfect, but I do see progress being made in the way they conduct business.
My oh my, we're just full of compliments today aren't we. I thought you were going to change your method of response to a kinder and gentler one.
I'm not sure what you are talking about. Nobody died in this accident, at least it was not reported as such in any of the 3 area newspapers I checked. I don't see anything wrong with this story, it's almost word for word what was in the official WSP report.
And it was a local Sheriff's department paco, not the state of New Jersey.
Sorry paco, I read all of the stories written Kris Hundley and I can't find ANY reference to the statistical data you quoted above. I also asked for your source on the story about the New Jersey Animal Control detail. Since you didn't provide it, I tried to research it and could only come up with a story about a corrupt sheriff's department, not a state program. Please provide accurate information in your "stories" with links to the information. This will help you earn respect from the readers.
Please provide the source of this statistical data.
Please cite the source of your information for this story paco.
Now that you've described your role in life, I understand you a little better. I'll be watching your postings to see if you follow through with your promise.
