"Personal feelings" are quite different from factual, vetted sources of information. Particularly the public variety.
Firstly, it is more than “a few glaciers” that are receding; it is a pervasive, sustained, and accelerating global trend. The National Snow and Ice Data Centre (NSIDC) maintains a chart of global glacier mass balance, and for as far back as their data allows us to look, all but a few years have shown a loss in ice volume of subpolar and mountain glaciers. Further, annual losses are increasing. But no one claims that melting glaciers are proof of global warming. Proof is a mathematical concept. In climate science one needs to look at the balance of evidence. The data monitored by the NSIDC is just one piece of evidence that is consistent with global warming.
Actually, lots of people care. What is troubling is your suggestion that your commentary carries a greater-or-lesser-weight than others do. Please, troll on.
"Though the reports don’t give all the details.." Typical small-minded backwater gossip mongering. It's not like Mr. Swenson has a history of embarrassing himself with such nonsense. Perhaps a new career as a field reporter for Fox News is on the horizon for Dick.
And for good reason, no doubt. It's fine for staff to discuss and debate issues, but once a decision is made, staff - all staff - need to fall in line. Pretty basic stuff.
Excellent only in it's repudiation of logic. If, as the author suggests, climate change is "not proven", why is the US Department of Defense on-board? Keep sticking your collective heads in the sand, it'll be fine. Just fine.
Continuing a debate with deniers of scientific fact is no longer a reasonable or productive venture. When 97% of all climate scientists agree that the planet is warming and fossil fuels are the reason, it's easy to understand why those who have the most to loose (oil, gas, various petrochem companies, etc.) have invested so much time and effort into persuading the very lowest common-denominator/lowest educated/easiest manipulated into the belief that this is all natural, and there is nothing to worry about. The time to act is now, let those who refuse to deal in the scientific method fiddle with their worry beads by themselves.
Newsbusters. Well there you go, a time-honored publication with the respect of journalists, nowhere, for sycophants to big oil, everywhere.
Thank you, NewInWW. I have long given up on attempting meaningful discussions with the critics/deniers, particularly those who confuse weather with climate, and desire to simplify extensively reinforced analysis with the buzzwords of a simpleton to fit a very, very myopic narrative.
No, that tells us the old guard doesn't like progress. Those few - very few - elected officials fall into the same category. Turner has my vote, and the support of every sheriff in the state.
