There are other options available.

  1. We could have the CIA overthrow Iran's government and install a despot to our liking as we did in 1953. That was a democratic government btw. That worked out well especially when the despot treated his people so bad they felt the Ayatollah was a better option.
  2. We could offer assistance to a neighboring rival in a war with Iran. Perhaps similar to our support of Iraq in the 1980's. We could even send Donald Rumsfeld as an emissary as he has experience from representing the U.S. in meetings with Hussein in 1983 and 1984.
  3. We could sell weapons to Iran so we can fund death squads in another part of the world as we did in the mid 1980's.
  4. We could invade and occupy the countries to the east and west of the Iran and pretend that isn't provocative and best of all pretend the invasions and occupations were victories and not blunders.
  5. We could offer blind and unending support to another Middle-East country that has a secret nuclear program and which doesn't allow inspections or have signed the non-proliferation treaty.

This might not work, but our past actions in dealing in Iran haven't either. I think it is worth a chance. Diplomacy doesn't work if you only talk to your friends. It isn't as sexy as puffing out your chest and blowing things up though.

If only there had been an investigation by a Republican led committee, maybe there could have been some answers. Maybe that committee could then write a report. Maybe a short report with say 37 pages. And maybe that report could include an easy to read summary on page 2 and 3.

Perhaps it could even look something like this:

Here's the two released videos of the shootings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9FtNOV6Qhk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z8qNUWekWE. What was menacing about the people shot and how were the police able to determine they were menacing within seconds?

kurtfr 11 months, 2 weeks ago on Letter - Our world more complicated and violent

I'm a little confused by the shooting in Cleveland where the boy had a toy gun and another shooting in Ohio where a 22 year old was shot inside Walmart while holding a BB gun. Ohio is an open carry state. In an open carry state, shouldn't one be free to be in the public with a BB gun or a toy gun or are those exempt from open carry laws?
