mwood 1 month ago on Confusion about ACA mandates needs fixing fast

NewInWW The point is the "fundamental changing of America" President Obama promised to accomplish is at dispute. Change must be accomplished slowly, over time. To expect to change a society from a capitalistic one (which has brought our county to the world's leader in just over 200 years) to a socialistic one, is a difficult and unrealistic one. There may be many liberal socialist out there, but as we witnessed after 9/11, Americans might be slow to realize what is happening around us, but we will wake up when threatened. I predict this socialist probing of our country will see push back soon. In our country's relatively short history we realized we did not want to participate in the European government rule. We valued liberty, freedom, AND equality.

Over the next several years this (daily evolving) law will need to be "fixed."
This law was passed without adequate debate. Why? Because Democrats had a majority. No debate, no evaluation, only; "we have to pass the bill so you can read what is in it." Unbelievable if it were not true. I also believe that affordable health care for all Americans should be a goal but not to the detriment of democracy and honest debate, if we are going to truly say that we are a nation of laws. Perhaps if the affordable care act had been properly vetted and debated we would have a social program that would be good for all Americans, not just a political few.

it seems like this latest poll by the UB reflects the opinion across the state. But that really does not matter. Governor Inslee intends to operate like our President by ignoring legislators and judicial branches of government. Inslee is following the President lead by imposing his ultra liberal beliefs without debate.

Nice try, if you do not like someone's message or want to silence them, throw insults and lower yourself to name calling to diminish an opposing opinion. We are a land of laws with three branches for the purpose of maintaining checks and balances. Our president has decided he will do away with the legislative input, he will make laws and decide which laws matter. His Attorney General has informed the county of the laws he will not enforce. The Mayor of New York, same conduct. And now Washington State has a Governor now has jumped on the band wagon. Inslee has no respect for what Washingtonians believe is best for our state. The politicians have proven their extreme liberalism and will be forcing their ideals on to the public until removed from office. The people of Washington have had conversations about the death penalty, what a shame Governor Inslee will not participate in conversation.

Fundamentally change America. Our President, who "can do whatever he wants" (perhaps a Freudian slip) told us he intends to fundamentally change America. Governor Inslee, another good liberal, says he wants to join a "national conversation about capital punishment." Governor Inslee has announced that he is ‘not convinced equal justice is being served.” Is Inslee imposing his personal beliefs and ignoring the will of the people of the State of Washington? Inslee has concluded the death penalty is being imposed in an “Inconsistent and unequal” manner. Governor Inslee; We here in Washington State have had this conversation.
We have already debated this issue and decided we want capital punishment as a choice for the most heinous of crimes. I cannot help but think of Wesley Allen Dodd, who sexually tortured and killed 3 young boys, a very worthy candidate if anyone was to be executed for his crimes. I ask Washington voters to research the nine people currently on Washington State death row. Please read about the crimes they were convicted of. Take note of any sign of and bias; race, religion, etc. Mr. Governor; if you believe Washington State should not have a capital punishment please use the legislative branch and allow, “We the people” to vote on the issue.” I believe that is the democratic way.

Even though many Democrat liberals express surprise at how terrible this law is a very few will defend Obamacare until it's death. And these few will do what liberals do best, belittle and engage in name calling with anyone who disagrees. As I and other Americans watch Obamacare destroy "hope and change" I wonder why no one is talking about impeachment of every Democrat who participated in creating a law that so significantly effects Americans without reading or understanding the law. Nancy Pelosi lectured us by telling us Obamacare had to become law first and then we can read it. Who does that? Is incompetence not an impeachable offence? I do not suggest President Obama be impeached. The President proposed the ACA be law. His loyal Democratic followers were more than happy to pass a law without Republican participation.

I agree with the UB opinion. Our Governor seems to believe he is in the white house sitting next to our president who has no problem spending money we do not have. Our Governor's priorities in this fiscally challenging time seems to be global warming and funding higher education for people in our country illegally. I am worrying about paying for my daughter's college. And yes, I know many readers are now calling me names however I am not a biased person. I have traveled to other parts of the world and enjoy living and interacting with people of differing cultures. My experience is that only in the United States are "visitors" to our country not expected to abide by local customs and laws. In this eastern part of Washington state we are hostages to the higher population on the west (left) side of the state, we do not matter. It is because of this that I do not hold out much hope for a change of direction from Olympia. We are being driven by liberal Olympia and we will be driven until we wreck.

I believe the entire point is that banning firearms is an emotional irrational reaction. When I went to high school, the 1970's, I always had a firearm in my vehicle because my buddy and I would go hunting before school and after. We never contemplated taking our guns into school and shooting people. We need to treat the behavior. The manner in which society ignores people with mental illness is a huge part of the current problem we have. Society also has been very quick to excuse people's bad behavior. Banning guns or "only some" guns is not the answer.
