This is typical of the Left coast politics. He should have been relieved of duty as soon as the indictments were filed without pay for the severity of the charges. Here is another example of "Don't do as I do but do as I say" . . . . . . .

What a novel idea by Mr. Dunning - cut expenses? Wow - why didn't the Executive Director think of that?

namvet60 3 days, 22 hours ago on Letter - Voters can do better than current commissioners

This is becoming typical in the political arena. The politician campaigns on areas that are pleasing to the public to get elected and then once taking office goes into the personal ideology mode and deviates away from the original campaign issues. It seems like cronyism is abundant in all areas of government - City, County, State and Federal.

I understand the emphasis on amply funded but reading the summaries in the McCleary Report states:

"Relying on local levies or federal funding is unconstitutional because it is unstable and unfair:

The fact that local levy funds have been at least in part supporting the basic education program is inescapable…..Reliance on levy funding to finance basic education was unconstitutional 30 years ago….and it is unconstitutional now (p. 68)."

In essence what is the School District Levy doing that we are currently paying for? When the Levy went on the ballot there wasn't a definitive use or sources to be used for. There was the typical scapegoats but nothing that you could put your finger on.

What a crock of hooey! It didn't stop the IRS from given bonuses, remodeling and Union activities worth billions of dollars when they could have hired more employees. What a hypocritical editorial.

namvet60 5 days, 21 hours ago on State treasurer proposes adoption of 5 percent income tax

I would like to know:

"That problem, in turn, has caused school districts to rely too heavily on local property-tax levies to pay for teacher salaries and other education needs — which the state Supreme Court found unconstitutional in the McCleary decision."

If the property tax levies are unconstitutional - when will the School District address this unlawful confiscation of money from the citizens of Walla Walla? Will transparency ever come to fruition within our community or does everybody just need to put on blinders?

The real problems within the last couple of months: single person reducing sewer invoices - indecision on exorbitant wage increases - mums the word on concert . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Rising utilities and now the thought of higher taxes - When will they open a soup kitchen for the residents of Walla Walla?

Apparently the commissioners came out of the basement into the sunlight and finally came to there senses. This Sheriff is one arrogant soul . . . . . . .
