I remember back when most people obeyed "walk" and "don't walk" signs. Now, scofflaws even crossing against red lights are common, especially on 1st and Main Street. If they'd just position a policeman near Starbucks and ticket people who cross against red lights, the city would have enough money to fill every pot hole in town. I even see parents with young kids doing that .... showing them that it's fine to disobey such laws. Sad.
You're correct, Glasater. Also, combustion of "fossil fuels" produces carbon dioxide as a byproduct which in turn is used by all plants as food for growth (during which process they also produce and release oxygen). Plant greenhouses often increase CO2 levels to the tune of 1500 ppm to aid in the photosynthesis process.
Just returned from a cabin on the beautiful Lake Wallowa ..... thankfully global warming hasn't yet prevented those beautiful mountains and forests surrounding the lake from being covered with snow .... Tollgate was also a pretty "winter wonderland" as I drove through it yesterday. (Gee, didn't Al Gore once blather on about no more snow for our kids to enjoy by now?) Anyway, nice comments, Iopine. Also Glasater, Igor and GeneandCassie. Don't pay attention to Baalhaven's continuing stream of childish schoolyard taunts about Fox News (wha-a-a-a-t?), etc. This person knows nothing about AGW or the true facts regarding CO2 and Climate Change. Or how all the entities he cites derive their "knowledge" from pseudoscience gleaned from IPCC summary reports and then picked up and broadcast through Obama's EPA. I had to laugh at Baalboy's comment about my five letters. Five? I've been passing along data on this issue that I've researched to the U-B since circa 2002 ..... probably around the time he was born, from the immature tone of his input.
Keep sipping your AGW Kool-aid, Blue Streak. You'll find plenty of that dispensed in Mother Jones and the LA Times. 2015 "hottest year ever" and 2014 the previous "hottest year ever"? That just isn't true. Even considering they are using small fractions of a degree to make that determination. There have been many years on record in the past that were much warmer than today. Maybe I'll explain why in a letter. Or perhaps in my own book one day that compiles all the major reasons why the scientists noted in those 140 books have convinced me (and others) that the AGW hypothesis is not only erroneous but being used as a money-making scheme by so many in that "climate change cottage industry". They have certainly taken advantage of the gullibility of believers like yourself. Yes, I'll probably end up donating those books to someone one day who might appreciate the opportunity to learn the truth about this issue .... but certainly not to someone who will burn them without reading, such as those who find them contrary to what puts bread on their tables. I'm sure many of them actually believe AGW is true .... but because they WANT to believe it. They simply don't want to seriously question their established paradigm. People, I'm sure, like yourself.
Appreciate your links, efforts and research on that G&C ..... however I'm fine with relying on our local expert regarding this issue -- named John McKern. :)
Thank you, Igor, both for the comments and the link. I have indeed noticed the (fairly new to me) publicized input regarding the effects of isoprene and other organic compounds on climate but haven't researched this aspect enough as yet to provide credible input. I will definitely do some "boning up" on this subject. There is so much data available to refute AGW and Anthropogenic climate change that it's often very difficult to condense it into one 400-word letter or even a dozen of them. I had written (but not yet submitted) another letter disputing Norm Osterman's submission regarding ocean acidification when decided to put that on a back burner when the sea level issue came up, for one example. Frankly, I'd like to put aside the whole issue of AGW but feel it's important to point out that this issue is far from settled, as I mentioned. As always, I appreciate your well-stated and thoughtful input and comments.
I am a bit of a news addict so I watch them all from time-to-time including FNC but also CNN, CBS, et al. Actually, the silly references the Far Left make reflect the fact they don't watch it .... or they would realize that for every conservative or libertarian they interview, they match them up with a Progressive left-liberal. And they also have "lefties" as moderators. Anyone check out what Shepard Smith says in his "asides"? Baal-what'shisname tries to disparage anyone who disagrees with him with that meaningless schoolyard taunt.
Thanks again, Iopine. Actually, I sent in a letter last week (not yet printed) in which I do believe Mr. Dyson's statement was mentioned. I didn't get it from Fox News, but that will do nicely.
Thanks, Iopine, but that's okay. I get that a lot from his side of the discussion. Fortunately do have a thick skin and can dodge sticks and stones anyway. I'm still awaiting some offered real evidence of AGW besides their usual argument from authority (argumentum ad verecundiam) which always arrives without actual science to back it up.
MLesko: Yes, I agree ..... as are most letters by Mr. Schmaltz over the years whether from here, Maryland or (now) Colorado. The monster (I would refer to as a rabid insect) who shot the students and others in Roseburg had no previous record that would prevent his purchase of a firearm. This happens often -- no previous conviction nor official psychiatric issue that would appear on a NICS check to stop these despicable perpetrators. It's very interesting to compare the history of these shooters to prescribed psychiatric behavior-controlling drugs, however. This is a major issue related to these shootings that must be addressed. Read this link as an example (there are many to be found online):
