They all ready caught him cheating, why let it to continue. Turner might have a higher education, but it is very obvious, that people with less education can do the job better. As to your earlier post about all the meet & greets. All they are is a group of people standing around drinking there wine. That's great for a Sheriff to promote. Were is your common sense.
dloudermilk: they were smart to walk out of the forum. Why would you want to stay, when you have someone video taping and then editing it, to make him look better .Both Blackman and Cooper are very much respected, and both would make a great Sheriff. As to Turner, He has had his chance and blew it.
Mr. Baker, you might want to take another look. Mr. Romine lost all credibility four years ago, with a majority of deputies. No one could trust him. Ever since then He has been in Turners back pocket. You might want to talk with some of deputies or former one's and get the truth. As it stands now you can't trust Romine's word or Turners.
Cambell Road: You are the one who is missing the point. Turner may have some qualifications, but He has not demonstrated, that He can run the Sheriff's Department. You can have all the qualifications in the world , but you have to have the knowledge to be a leader, this is where Turner fails.
Cambell Road: So far the degree that Turner obtained in California has no bearing on anything that happens in Walla Walla County. The alleged experience Turner claims to have has not done anything to help the gang problem here. I have personally listened to some of his ideas, and I can tell you the local people have a lot more going for them. Some of the decision's Turner has made were wrong. It is very obvious that He is not the right choice for Sheriff of Walla Walla County.
Turner has created so much turmoil at the Sheriff's Office. He has tried to ruin several good deputies career's. Turner's appears to only care about himself. As to Turners past no one seems to know, the truth about his law enforcement career. You can call LAPD, and they don't seem to know him. As to Turners other issues, such as ASH Hollow, there appears to be more to the story, that what's being told. From what I hear several people are afraid to come forward with what went on. I think it is time the citizens of Walla Walla County send Turner a clear message that his tactics against employees will not be tolerated. It is time we get a true sheriff once again in this county, either Blackman or Cooper will do the job well, and follow the roots of two former retired Sheriff's who fought for their employees and the citizens of Walla Walla County.
Finally the truth comes out about Mr.Turner. It is well over due. The Citizens of Walla Walla County deserve a lot better. Cambell Road apparently has his eyes closed, and has no idea what It takes to run a office. Currently we have a person who talks a lot and wants everyone to believe him. Well it is quite apparent He has no clue as to handling gany issues, employee issues and a lot more. It is time the Citizens send him down the road.
My Thoughts: Usually a law enforcement agency purchases the weapons, and all the officers carry them. But I understand that the one's the Sheriff purchased , are not what the officers want to carry. It was a total miss allotment of funds. The current Sheriff doe's not carry one either. He purchased some 2500.00 gun to carry. What doe's that tell you. As to the rifles, they can be sold or traded into a licensed gun dealer only. As to certification of Turner, look on the Criminal Justice Training sight, they don't release information about officers to the general public. As to the phone call made several months ago to them, I do not recall the name of the person. Even If I did I would not provide it. As I said before, if you want to pay for something that is not being used go ahead. If they are being used that is a different story. But it should tell you something if the current Sheriff won' carry one either.
My Thoughts: I think you are still not informed. I tried calling the State Criminal Justice Training Commission, they would not confirm the status, because I'm not working for a law enforcement agency. I'm not complaining about the commissioners, they are doing their job. My main concern is the spending of taxpayers money and the stuff just sits on shelves. May be you want to pay for unused items but most taxpayers do not. May be you should use some common sense.
Mr . Phillips, it would be nice to know where you get some of your facts. You might want to verify some of your information. 1st, the weapons the Sheriff's Department had were not 15 years old. Further more after spending all that taxpayers money only a handful of the Deputies carry them. The majority purchased their own. The rest of the these apparently sit on a shelve. 2nd, what about the spending for the new rifles and optics for each deputy. Sure they are nice but not worth the $1500-1700.00 for each one. 3Rd. They apparently didn't trade the old rifles in, instead decided they would sit idle in a storage room. As to the bullet proof vest, they also usually replaced every five years, and money is set a side out of the budget for that. this is nothing new, the previous Sheriff's did the same thing. It would appear that you are the one trying to mislead people.
