Congrats Mrs. Shawa on a superb letter. Or Mr. Shawa's secretary. Or someone that owes him a favor. And no, no one was suggesting that he isn't hard working or likeable. The fact that he has large responsibilities has nothing to do with the raise. It is just that any public official should think twice before accepting a raise at this time. port commissioner or city manager. At least he wasn't asked to take a cut.

I realize that $2,800 isn't a huge amount when compared to some raises, but it could be used along with the money that the city urinated away to fight a stupid painting on a building to help the city's needs. But when you realize that many of Walla Walla's people haven't seen a raise in several years and a large number of people actually took 3% pay cuts. But we have to give a city manager a raise when others are sacrificing. I didn't like losing 3% of my income, but as a group, if we sacrificed, maybe it would help. Not getting an almost $3000 dollar raise may not be enjoyable but not accepting it would show a small bit of solidarity with the people who do pay it. Especially for a person making six figures a year. Voting to give it and accepting it shows a rather appalling lack of caring by the powers that be. Oh, and congrats on showing that darned toy store scofflaw! I will sleep better tonight knowing that evil octopus has been vanquished! Maybe The obscene yellow color on the Cayuse winery will be next. Oh, thats right, it's a winery. They're sacred. The octopus should have been holding local wine bottles. then the city would have loved it.

I guess that it pays to be the wife of a police chief. If this was some nobody, they would be doing a whole lot worse than a halfway house. County service pay, and a husband whose pay must be reasonable points to nothing but greed and arrogance that they can do what they want.

This is just another example of a typical car dealer. He will scam as many people and organizations as possible, screw up people's lives and use the bankruptcy system to his own ends. In the meantime, he'll squirrel away as many assets in other families members names, go out of business, and ruin the lives of the people who count on him for their livelihoods. He probably has a huge chunk of money in the same offshore accounts as Mittens Romney. He'll then bail out with his golden parachute, and thumb his noses (the one on both faces) while the Hindenburg flies on with the passengers all holding on to the proverbial bag. Good job, Markie.

Lovely. Let's dumb down the next generation more than previous generations by providing a third diploma requiring only proof of being able to text using only the idiotic abbreviations that the current generation takes for grammar. Better yet, just give a diploma for participation. The final exams would be to prove competence at World of Warcraft, HALO 1, 2, 3 and all current popular video games, to be able to text at a rate of at least 10 texts per minute, the ability to give a detailed definition of the letters OMG, and to be able to say "Would you want fries with that", and how to ride a skateboard down a totally sick halfpipe. Oh, and the ability to know when and how to use the term ""Whatev". Well, the next generation has computers, autocorrect, and calculators, so who needs education. When I look back on my school life, working for a living, and being responsible for my family, I still think graduating high school was the easiest thing I did. If you can't make a commitment to learn and and succeed at this thing, I would remember a line from a John Wayne movie "Life's Hard. It's Harder if your'e Stupid.

The prosecutors in this town don't seem to have any desire to try these people, and take the easy way out. They may have to actually do some hard work to get a conviction. But they can softball the charges and get an easy conviction. And then after threatening the lives of not only the victims, but potentially the lives of police officers, they recommend the low end of the possible sentence. Epic. Maybe we can get the defense attorneys to prosecute these cases. The results would be the same, and we could save the cost of the prosecuting attorneys.

Again with the buying votes bull. the conservatives unload the "giving gifts" excuse Romney came up with to cover his defeat, and the faithful swallow it with the blind gullibility that Republicans exhibit. Realize that George W. poisoned the well so thoroughly that he gave the White House to the Democrats for two terms. And, for the first time that I can remember, The Repubs distanced themselves from Bush so far they wouldn't even invite its two term president to the convention! Then on top of it all, Bill Clinton campaigned for the President, and helped! This is what President Rove and Vice-President Bush did to screw this country up. Blame the Republicans and their policies that put us where we are today.

Roberta parrots the Romney excuse of the President winning because of his "gifts" to minorities. And on top of it, actually quoting the pillhead moron Rush Limbaugh to add some creedence to her rant. If Romney were to win, it would be the gifts he would give to the very rich in the form of tax cuts. If the people of this country actually believe the Republicans would cut the taxes of the middle class, they are as crazy as the Republicans believe they are.

I certainly would not say he deserved to die. I am not the one to decide this. But he got himself into a situation that ended in it happening. If he hadn't been where did not have the right to be, doing an act he HAD to know was hazardous and a crime,, he put himself in harms way. The lesson is simple. Had he not been committing a felony, he would still be with the family who says they love him. You pays your money and you takes your chance. Learn from other's mistakes. It's too late for Cesar.
